Bow Wow, whose given name is Shad Moss, became interested in rap music at the only 3 years old. At six he began to perform under the name Kid Gangsta until Snoop Dogg game him the stage name Lil Bow Wow. At the age of eleven he was taken under the wing by producer Jermain Dupri and the two recorded  “The Stick Up” for the Wild Wild West film soundtrack.

At 13 years old he released his first album Beware of Dog which included features by Xscape and Snoop Dogg. The album went on to sell over  two million copies. His second album “Doggy Bag” also went platinum.

In 2002 he dropped the “Lil from his name and released his third album, his first not under the production of Dupri. Unleashed featured Jagged Edge, Birdman, Mario, and Amerie and went gold. All of Bow Wow’s albums had chart topping singles.

Bow Wow also recorded an album with Omarion before signing over to Birdman’s Cash Money Records. Althugh singles from this album were leaked a long delay in the release of his Cash Money album resulted in him leaving the label. Bow Wow said, “I just can’t be held up up by nobody. It’s as simple as that. I got a daughter. I got a family I gotta provide for.” In 2016 he released a mix tape with Soulja Boy but then announced he would be retiring from music.

Bow Wow has starred in many films over the years including Like Mike, Johnson Family VacationAll About The Benjamins,  Roll BounceThe Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Hurricane Season. He’s also had guest rolls on several TV shows including Smallville, Ugly Betty and Entourage.

During  a 2012 child support court case, Bow Wow revealed he was broke. He said he only had $1,500 in the bank. However, shortly after that he signed on to be the regular host of BET’s 106& Park show broadcast to 85 million homes. He is also a star on the reality show Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Having such radio and album success over so many years you would think Bow Wow would be worth more than just $1.5 million. He admits he acted young and stupid with his financial choices however he is building his net worth back up with film and television work.
