As A$AP Rocky sits in jail for another week while Kanye West asks President Trump to step in, G-Eazy reflects on his arrest in Sweeden. Rocky is being help for a fight which video footage revealed came after a man stalked and attacked his body guard.
But just last year, G-Eazy was arrested in Stockholm after punching a security guard in a club and snorting coke using a $100 bill. He was arrested for assault, possession of drugs and use of narcotics, yet prosecutors allowed him to strike a deal less than two days later.
G-Eazy did plead guilty to violent resistance, a crime of violence against an official and illegal drug possession. He paid a $10k fine, got probation and had to pay the security guard $900. After fans called out this discrepancy in in treatment bu Sweden police, G-Eazy pointed out that it is a sad fact.
This is the sad truth…The difference between me and Rocky’s treatment in Sweden brings to mind two concepts that disgustingly go hand in hand: white privilege and systemic racism. Let’s call it what it is. He should not be behind bars right now. My heart goes out to @asvpxrocky pic.twitter.com/PHDrKsfiUF
