As of 2017 Birdman’s net worth is $110 million placing him at the number 4 on Forbes richest rapper list.
Birdman, born Bryan Williams, lost his parents at a young age and spent his time homeless on the streets, in boys shelters, or in the Magnolia Projects in the 3rd Ward of New Orleans. At 18 years-old he spent two years in jail for drug dealing.
Birdman began rapping under the name “Baby” with DJ Mannie Fresh as the duo Big Tymers. Their first two albums sold over 1 million copies each making them Platinum in the US.
Birdman met Lil Wayne at a young age and took him under his wing. He calls Wayne his son and signed him to his own Cash Money Records (an imprint of Universal). Their album together Like Father, Like Son was certified gold. Birdman was also featured on hit tracks throughout the years including “We Fly High” by Jim Jones and “Make It Rain” by Fat Joe to name a few. In addition to Wayne, Cash Money Records launched the careers of Drake and Nicki Minaj making Birdman tons of cash.
Birdman also had ties to the oil industry and claimed to make a ton of cash from it however his company, Bronald Oil and Gas, LLC, was not recognized by any industry regulators.
An outburst during a “Breakfast Club” radio interview in which Birdman asked the hosts to “put some respek on my name,“ inspired Birdman to launch a clothing line called “Respek.”
Despite being accused of bad artist deals and holding Lil Wayne’s album hostage, Birdman owes most of his $110 million from his Cash Money label artists.
