Radric Delantic Davis, is an American rapper who is popularly known by the name of Gucci Mane. He is a native of Bessemer, Alabama
Davis’ paternal grandmother raised him while his mother was getting her degree in college. Because his mother was a teacher, he was taught to read at an early age and his mother spent a considerable amount of time teaching him scriptures from the Bible.
As a child, Gucci Mane enjoyed writing poetry. After his brother introduced him to hip hop, he began rapping at the age of 14. In 2001, he released his first record. Alongside Atlanta rappers T.I. and Young Jeezy, he helped pioneer the hip hop subgenre trap music with his 1017 Records label.
Gucci Mane has released dozens of mixtapes and has worked with artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Omarion, Mariah Carey and Young Jeezy. His sixth album The State vs. Radric Davis, became his first gold certified album. His 2016 collaboration with Rae Sremmurd, titled “Black Beatles”, provided Gucci Mane with his first number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, largely in part because of it’s viral sensation.
Gucci Mane has three nominations for BET awards and has won Best Pop Video for “Down.”
Though he earns most of his money from album sales, performances and appearances, like many star rappers Gucci Mane has his hands in many business ventures. Because he loves clothes and accessories, he has a clothing line he named Delantic, after his real name.
He’s also acted in two films- 2012’s Birds of a Feather and 2013’s cult classic Spring Breakers.
After a stint in jail, Gucci released an autobiography in 2017 with big success.
All of these earnings were cause for Gucci to buy a $9 million mansion complete with fabulous cars including Ferrari 458 Italia, a Ferrari 612, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Dodge Charger SRT8, a Bentley Mulsanne, and a Dodge Challenger.
His hard work sure paid off and then some.
