Meek Mill net worth:
Meek Mill net worth: Born Robert Rahmeek Williams, Meek Mill is an American hip-hop artist with a net worth of $12.8 million for 2017. He is a rapper from Philadelphia that is currently signed to Maybach Music group by Rick Ross.
His mother, Kathy Williams, raised him alone after his father was killed when he was just 5 years old. Meek Mill was born in the northern part of Philadelphia but has spent a lot of his time in the south. Those times when he was in South Philadelphia, Meek Mill was with his uncle, the younger brother of his father, DJ Grandmaster Nell, a Philadelphia hip-hop legend.
From Mill’s hip-hop influence under his uncle, he then became a frequent participant in rap battles and later was a member of Bloodhoundz rap group. The group started their musical journey buying blank CDs and burning them with their original songs that they requested friends to distribute to people. The Bloodhoundz were able to release four mixtapes before they broke up.
Meek Mill released his first solo mixtape in 2007, his first of the “Flamerz” series. It features his hit single “In My Bag.” Mill’s career got a massive boost after he released “Flamerz 2,” his fourth mixtape, when he was discovered and signed by Charlie Mack and his management company in 2008. Charlie helped get Meek access into hip-hop’s inner circle.
Unfortunately, Meek suffered a setback when he was put behind bars for drug possession for 7 months. However, his career continued after his release, collaborating with DJ Drama to release “Flamerz 3.”
In 2011, Meek Mill released “Tupac Back,” his single featuring Rick Ross. It was followed by another single, “Ima Boss,” which dominated the US Billboard charts. His success continued as he released “Dreamchasers 2” which reached 105 million downloads during the first 6 weeks it was out.
In 2012, Mill debuted “Dreams and Nightmares,” his first studio album which became No. 2 of the US Billboard 200 that year. The album was also named by XXL as fifth Hip-Hop Album and by Spin Magazine as Top 15 of the Best Hip-Hop Album of 2012.
Mill’s Dreamchasers 2 also earned him the Hip-Hop Best Mixtape in 2012. He was also awarded an Independent Music Best Song Rap award in 2013.
So how did he get such a massive bag? It’s a combination of show money, endorsements and album sales.
