With the birth of his twins, Jay-Z upgraded his real estate investments last year. Jay and wife Beyonce got their new family of 5 comfy in a new $26 million East Hampton mansion and $88 million Bel Air estate.
This paired with the rising value of his interests in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac plus his ownership stakes in his Roc Nation empire and Tidal streaming service put Jay Z on the top of Forbes Five: Hip Hop’s Wealthiest Artists of 2018. With Jay Z’s net worth now at $900 million, Jay Z surpasses Diddy on this list for the first time since 2011.
Here’s the rest of the Forbes top five:
Eminem – 4th
You may think Eminem has been laying low however he is still the best selling rapper of all time. Eminem goes into 2018 with a net worth of $100 million.
Drake – tied for 4th
Unlike Eminem, Drake has been putting in work to earn his net worth of $100 million. Drake’s released 4 albums in the last 2 years and continuously toured. He has investments in real estate, Virginia Black Whiskey and his clothing line. It makes me exhausted just typing all that.
Dr. Dre- 3rd
Dre’s deal with Apple will give him a whopping $100 million in stock this year bringing his net worth to $770 million.
Just because Diddy is in second place it doesn’t mean he’s lost money in the last year. It’s just the opposite. His investments in Ciroc and Revolt TV had a modest growth last year but Diddy also invested in DeLeon Tequilla to continue to widen his pockets. Diddy’s current net worth is $825 million.
