Logic Throws Tantrum After Not Being Able to Sample A Song
Logic is frustrated that he can’t get clearance to clearance to sample a song by alt rocker Lou Reed. Logic wants to use the beat from his famed “Walk On The Wild Side” which was also used in A Tribe Called Quests’ “Can I Kick It.” Before Reed passed away in 2013 he was an advocate for intellectual property right. Logic says he can’t track down his estate for the clearance. He posted this diatribe about it:
But even if he gets clearance would he even get money? The late Tribe member Phife Dawg one said of their song with the sample,”I remember with [record label] Jive, there was a problem with the sample being cleared,” Phife told Rolling Stone. “I don’t think they cleared the sample, and instead of Lou Reed saying, ‘You can’t use it,’ he said, ‘Y’all can use it, but I get all the money from that.’ To this day, we haven’t seen a dime from that song.” Listen to “Can I Kick It” below.
