In a recent interview Meek Mill says he started that beef with Drake a few years ago because he was addicted to drugs and acting reckless. The rapper and activist told NY Mag, “I was just out of control at that point in my life. Getting high and doing whatever I wanted, how I wanted to do it. In front of the world, not behind the scenes.” He also admitted he had no basis for saying that Drake uses a ghost writter saying, “I don’t know his writing situation or how he really carried it… I just jumped out of anger and what I thought was the truth at the time. Me and Drake have actually been communicating for the last year. Even before I went to prison. It was based on the right time. We ain’t have nothing going on but a rap beef, we didn’t cause harm to each other.”
Meek also said he laughed at Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Dreams” lyric, “Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck him / ‘I used to pray for times like this’ face ass when I fuck him,” but says it’s entirely not true.
Meek says he hopes the two can work on music together in the future. In the meantime, Meek readies the release of his new album which will feature ardi B, Ella Mai, Fabolous, Anuel AA, Kodak Black and samples Beyonce’s “Me, Myself and I.”
Meek is also still working for prison reform and recently wrote an Op Ed for the NY Times. Check out this video by Meek that talk about the Miranda Rights.
