Nicki Minaj Cancels Saudi Arabia Concert After Asking Fans For Feedback

Nicki Minaj shows support for women and LGBTQ community

Nicki Minaj has officially canceled her 7/18 scheduled performance at Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah World Fest. Minaj asked her fans to reveal some of the harsh truths about the culture in the Middle East. They told her you could be arrest or even castrated for being openly gay. The fans told Nicki that woman could not attend her show unless they were accompanied by their father, brother or husband.

Minaj said in a statement, “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”

This decision also comes after the Human Rights Foundation issued a statement last week, calling for Minaj and other performers to pull out of the show. One Direction’s Liam Payne and DJ Steve Aoki are still schedule to perform.
