Spike Lee’s Upcoming Film Will Feature Unreleased Prince Song

Spike Lee’s upcoming film “BlackKklansman” is set to feature an unreleased Prince song in the end credits. Lee says he showed a screening of the film to Spotify exec, Troy Carter, who is also one of Prince’s estate advisors, and Carter knew the song was meant for Lee’s film.  Prince singing the old hymn “Mary Don’t You Weep”  will be played over footage of the Charlottesville riots. Lee says, it’s no coincidence that the cassette recording from the mid 1980s was recently found in the vaults at Prince’s Paisley Park. “My brother Prince wanted me to have that song. For this film. There is no other explanation to me,” he says.

Spike Lee’s poignant and political film BlackKklansman will arrive in theaters on August 10, 2018. Watch the trailer below.
